I recall visiting Disneyland in California one time, standing in front of the main gate, and looking up at the slogan written above the entrance: "Happiest Place on Earth." What a marvellous dream and aspiration! I thought to myself, one day, the brand of Eastern Multimedia Group can stand side by side with that of Disney by offering Chinese-speaking people in the word the best multimedia entertainments.

Fortunately, through the joint efforts by the entire EBC staff, the brand name of ETTV is gradually moving into the limelight. Take our children channel, Yo Yo TV, as an example, many people I have encountered tell me that their children love watching this high quality channel. In Taiwan, Yo Yo TV has surpassed the two mainstream U.S. cartoon channels in ratings, making it an Asian media miracle and the realisation of my original dream.

 

At present, EBC operates eight of its own TV programming channels
plus the Super TV that we acquired on September 2002, the greatest
number among channel operators in Taiwan. All ETTV channels consistently
see viewer ratings at or near the top of their respective categories. Overall, in terms of number of channels and ratings, ETTV stands alongside ERA TV as the number one brand in Taiwan's CATV industry.

At the same time, thanks to the technology of satellite transmission, ETTV is moving towards a global reach to offer the Chinese-speaking viewers in Taiwan and around the world with outstanding programming and diversified choices.

As a leading player in the media industry, the information ETTV disseminates will affect the public's opinions deeply. Therefore, we have always taken "public interest" as the prioritised guideline, one that has been reflected on our unceasingly cares for the land we live. All the employees at ETTV consider themselves volunteering social workers, which is epitomised in their active involvement in different kinds of charity activities.

The enormous global Chinese-speaking media viewer-ship creates a great market potential for ETTV. Therefore, ETTV will continue to focus on its core CATV business operations, consolidating its leading position in the Taiwanese market while aggressively moving to develop the 1.5 billion Chinese-speaking global media market. This, we believe, will upgrade ETTV into the rank of international media company with a global media brand. At that time, we will become the one to set a new milestone for Taiwan's CATV industry.
